The component of Conveyor Belts
Carcass, Cover rubber, Skim rubber, Edge rubber
- carcass:is the key component of the conveyor belt, it defines the tensile strength of the belt, and absorbs the impact from materials.
- skim rubber:bond the carcass layer, prevent the delamination of the carcass layer
- cover rubber:protect the carcass, transfer the power, absorbs the impact from materials, resist the abrasion from materials.
- edge rubber:protect the carcass from the corrosion of the materials, absorbs the force from the side of the conveyor belt, and prevents the delamination of the belt core.
The classification of conveyor belts
According to the performance of cover:
- general use conveyor belt
- heat resistant conveyor belt,
- fire resistant conveyor belt,
- abrasion resistant conveyor belt,
- rip resistant conveyor belt,
- cold resistant conveyor belt.
The general use conveyor belt can be divided into three types according to the abrasive and impact of material:
①H type:for application of conveying big lump material with normal temperature, non-corrosive
②D type:for application of conveying small lump material with normal temprerature, non-corrosive
③L type:for application of conveying powder material with normal temperature, non-corrosive, low density.
According to the carcass:
- steel cord conveyor belt
- fabric conveyor belt(EP/NN/EE)
- steel mesh conveyor belt
- solid woven conveyor belt
According to the belt shape:
- flat conveyor belt
- endless conveyor belt
- sidewall conveyor belt
- chevron conveyor belt
According to belt edge:
- molded edge conveyor belt
- cut edge covneyor belt
The joint method of conveyor belt
Conveyor belt joint methods include mechanical method, cold bonding method, and hot vulcanization method.
Among them, the mechanical method and cold bonding method are only suitable for fabric conveyor belts, and the hot vulcanization method is suitable for various rubber conveyor belts.
- Mechanical joint method: It has the advantages of simple operation and short joint time, but the joint strength is low, generally only 40% to 50% of the strength of the conveyor belt.
- Cold bonding method: It is a method of connecting conveyor belts with adhesive glue as raw material. It has the advantages of high joint strength, no noise, no vibration, simple operation, and short time. The joint strength is generally up to 60% to 70% of the strength of the conveyor belt.
- Hot vulcanization joint method: It is a method of connecting conveyor belts through hot vulcanization. It has the characteristics of high joint strength and long service life. The joint strength generally reaches 80% to 90% of the strength of the conveyor belt, but the joint time is longer .
The requirements of hot vulcanizing joint:
- Bonding step length of belt vulcanized joint not less than 250mm.
- Vulcanize temperature is 130~150℃.
- Vulcanize time is 30~45 minutes.
The maintenance of conveyor belt
Conveyor belts in large projects may be stored for months or even years. Therefore, storage conditions directly affect the performance of the conveyor belts. Good storage conditions can avoid the impact of various unfavorable factors on the conveyor belts.
- The outer packaging of the conveyor belt protects the conveyor belt during handling and storage. Care must be taken when loading and unloading. Carry the belt carefully to prevent damage. The best way to move the belt is to use a crane. When lifting, use a shaft with sufficient strength to pass through the center of the belt, and then use a steel rope with a beam to lift it smoothly to avoid damage to the edge of the conveyor belt.
- When unloading the conveyor belt, it should be freely, steadily and slowly lowered to touch the ground. Do not land on one side and do not open the packaging of the conveyor belt at will.
- Try not to roll the belt roll. If you must roll, please clean the ground before rolling to prevent the conveyor belt from being punctured or hit by hard objects. The rolling direction should be consistent with the winding direction, to prevent the belt from loosening.
- It can also be lifted and moved with a forklift, do not damage the belt when moving.
- The conveyor belt should be stored in a dry and dark place. The ideal storage temperature is 10-20℃. Storage places lower than 5℃ or higher than 35℃ should be avoided.
- Cover the belt well with a waterproof tent if the belt is in an open space. Pad up the ground to prevent the belt from wet.
- Do not be exposed to sunlight directly. When storing, it should be protected from ultraviolet and X-ray radiation. Do not engage in electric welding and various radioactive activities in the storage place.
- Do not store the belt in places where oil, gasoline, paint, acid, and chemicals are used.
- Do not store the belt in places with ozone and various strong oxidizing properties.
- For long-term storage, it should be turned over regularly to prevent internal pressure from continuously acting on the same place.
