Steel cord conveyor belt has the advantages of high tensile strength, low elongation, flexural fatigue resistance, superior impact resistance, and long service life, so it has been widely used in factories and mines. Especially in the main underground transportation system of coal mines, steel cord conveyor belts are mostly used on belt conveyors with high power, large transportation, and high speed.

However, the steel cord conveyor belt has the characteristics of high cost, difficult laying, complicated vulcanization joint process, and long accident handling time. So, maintaining and managing the conveyor belt and its joints is a major issue for technicians.

The specific method is as follows:

(1) Manufacture and install an automatic adjustment device to prevent deviation of the belt. Conveyor belt deviation is the main cause of conveyor belt abrasion. To this end, a deviation device is installed along the belt conveyor at an interval of 150m to automatically correct the deviation of the conveyor belt. The method is simple, easy to implement, and has a better correction effect. Also, besides installing an automatic deviation adjustment device, there must be complete and reliable deviation protection.

(2) Modify the coal sliding and coal retaining devices at the loading point and unloading point to avoid scratches by sharp objects or even tearing the conveyor belt. The underground coal flow is often mixed with other objects, including sharp objects. The principle of transformation is to minimize the possibility of jamming of sharp objects in the coal flow, so that the flow of coal is smooth.

(3) Install sensitive and reliable protection at the transfer point and unload point. Coal pile accident is the natural enemy of the normal operation of belt conveyor. After a coal piling accident occurs, if it is not detected in time, various accidents will occur. Among them, the damage to the conveyor belt and joints is particularly prominent. The conveyor belt will be scratched or torn, and the conveyor belt will be broken. Or there may be a frictional fire accident.

(4) Replace the driving roller and various guide rollers in time. The conveyor belt is subject to greater force at the entrance end of the driving roller. If the roller has been worn out and is concave, it is easy to damage the conveyor belt.

(5) Replace the damaged roller in time to prevent the roller and roller frame from scratching the conveyor belt.

(6) For joints with serious problems, they must be re-vulcanized at one time.

(7) Establish management files and patrol inspection records of belt joints. All vulcanized joints are numbered in sequence, and visual inspections are performed regularly. Record the inspection results in detail.

(8)Ensure the joints are qualified. Strictly follow the vulcanization process and do not engage it carelessly. Each process must strictly implement quality and technical standards, especially the three important parameters of water pressure, temperature, and time must meet the requirements.

The specific approach is:

First, make permanent marks on the conveyor belts at both ends of the vulcanized joint, and record the distance between the two marks as a reference value for future observation and comparison. Daily inspections are performed to check the degree of damage to the rubber surface of the joint, whether the joint is glued, and whether the joint has a drawstring.

Then, according to the actual inspection results, repair or renewal the joints against the standards. Check the length of the joints every nine days. If the elongation of the joint length exceeds the standard, re-vulcanization measures should be taken in time.
