It is important to arrange the regular inspection and maintenance of conveyor belts and conveyors, so the service life of conveyor belts will be longer.
When inspecting the conveyor belt, please pay attention to the following parts:
Loading point:
- The loading point is the vulnerable part of the conveyor belt. The impact of materials on the belt and off-center feeding will cause the belt to climb along with the rotating idler to the other side and deviate, which will cause damage to the belt edge and increase the wear of the cover rubber.
- Materials with high density and sharp edges will cause a certain impact or sliding on the fast-moving belt, which will also scratch and wear the belt surface.
- The general method to reduce this kind of wear is to put the powdery material on the belt first, and then load the big size material so that the powdery material acts as a cushion to protect the belt.
- Set a screen bar at the loading point. The fine materials will first fall on the belt through the gaps of the screen bar to form a cushion layer. After the large pieces of material pass through the screen bar, they will slowly fall onto the cushion layer, which reduces the impact on the belt.
Chute:
- The chute is another reason for the surface wear of the belt. The closer it is to the belt, the more severe the wear. The chute should not be in contact with the belt, and there should be a certain gap between the bottom edge and the belt.
- Check the rubber skirt on the lower edge frequently to prevent material jams. The fixed part of the loading point device must not be in contact with the surface of the belt, and materials are not allowed to jam in the chute.
Pulley:
- All pulleys should rotate flexibly. If there are materials on the pulley, it will cause the conveyor belt to deviate, resulting in abnormal wear of the cover rubber and certain fatigue or even tearing of the belt core. So, the materials on the pulleys should be cleared by frequent inspections.
- The pulley lagging is to increase friction, reduce tension, and reduce slippage caused by wet conditions. The pulley lagging improves the cleaning efficiency of the belt, and extends the life of the pulley. When the pulley lagging is worn, replaced it as soon as possible.
Idler:
- Remove the materials attached to the idler. Pay special attention to the lower Idler. The materials may cause the conveyor belt to deviate and cause belt edge damage. Replace the damaged, non-rotating roller in time.
- Also, put proper lubrication on the idler. If too much grease is injected, it will leak to the conveyor belt. Then the surface of the conveyor belt is stained with lubricating oil, the rubber will become soft and swell, delamination, peeling.
- The position of the upper roller and the improper setting of the radius of curvature will cause the belt to be abnormally flexed and cause fatigue damage, which will cause the non-working surface of the belt to wear and cause longitudinal cracks.
- When materials are stuck on the roller, the roller will bulge, causing the belt to jump and spill the material during operation, and even cause damage to the belt, so please replace the roller in time.
Tensioning device:
- Check whether the tensioning device can move, and whether the sliding condition of the guide frame is good, and the guide frame is filled with oil regularly.
- An insufficient tensioning take-up will reduce the safety of the tensioning device.
- Excessive tension will accelerate the fatigue of the conveyor belt, thereby increasing the elongation of the conveyor belt, and ultimately affect the operation of the conveyor belt.
- If the tension is too small, the belt will slip on the driving pulley, which will also speed up the belt wear. So, adjust the tensioning device in time.
Conveyor belt:
- The inspection of the conveyor belt includes whether the upper and lower surfaces are damaged, whether the belt edge is damaged, whether the carcass is damaged, and whether the joints are damaged.
- If the damage is found, carry out a simple partial repair immediately.
- When the damage is large, stopped the conveyor immediately for thorough repair.
- And if the damage is serious, the belt must be replaced.
